Delivery of the components is scheduled for the summer of 2011. After the start of operation in the end of 2012, the plant will supply power to the region in the southern Urals.
Owner of the power unit is OJSC Third generating company of the wholesale electricity market (OJSC OGK-3). Power train purchaser is CJSC Atomstroyexport – the EPC contractor that will build the plant.
Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2 is located approximately 100km south of Chelyabinsk. Siemens will supply a SCC5-4000F 1 S power train comprising an SGT5-4000F gas turbine with a capacity of 288MW, a steam turbine, a hydrogen-cooled generator and the turboset I&C system. The plant has a single-shaft design, by which the main components – gas turbine, steam turbine and generator – are arranged on a single line of shafting.

By virtue of its modular design the plant can not only be readily adapted to meet customer and site requirements but also enables high operational flexibility, fast startup and fast load changes.”
