Siemens will erect the DGEN power plant in the Dahej on the southwest coast of the Indian state of Gujarat. The plant will comprise three combined-cycle units and have a total installed capacity of 1,200MW. The UNOSUGEN combined-cycle plant, which will have an installed capacity of approximately 400MW, will be built in the vicinity of the city of Surat also in Gujarat.
In addition to turnkey construction, Siemens will supply the main components for the two plants – four SGT5-4000F gas turbines, four SST5-5000 steam turbines, four hydrogen cooled generators, and the entire electrical systems as well as the SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system.
Wolfgang Dehen, CEO of Siemens Energy Sector, said: “With the rapid growth plans that India had set for itself in the coming years the demand in power will increase manifold. With our technology, we are helping to ensure that this expansion is environmentally compatible. For Torrent, Siemens has already built the power plants Paguthan with a capacity of 655MW and SUGEN rated at 1,150MW.”
