Adrian K. Wood, president and chief executive of Siemens Philippines, has informed that the company is in talks with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the automation of traffic systems in the capital.
The automation of traffic system is required to curb accidents and decongest traffic, especially along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, the metropolis’ main thoroughfare.
Mr. Wood said: “We had a couple of talks with MMDA in synchronizing traffic lights as well as installing CCTV units in major streets in Metro Manila. [Traffic systems in other countries in Asia tend] to be quite similar with that of the Philippines.”
Mr. Wood informed that the company participated in the bidding for the 5.4-kilometer Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT 1) North Extension project. It has also signed a memorandum of understanding with R-II Builders to develop the LRT 1 South Extension Project.
Last week, the local unit of Siemens was called for more water and wastewater treatment facilities for industries and municipalities to sustain the supply of clean water.
