The two gas-fired plants – Ensenada de Barragán and Brigadier López – were originally designed and supplied by Siemens and are owned by ENARSA, Argentina’s national energy company.

Siemens will supply the power island equipment to shut down the combined cycles which would result in an additional 280MW of power for Ensenada de Barragán and 140MW for Brigadier López.

The company will supply one SST5-5000 steam turbine, one SGen5-1000A generator, two heat recovery steam generators, and the SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system for the Ensenada power plant in the province of Buenos Aires.

Siemens will also deliver one SST-900 reheat steam turbine, one SGen5-100A generator, one heat recovery steam generator, and the SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system for the power station located in Santo Tomé, in the Santa Fe province.

The plants are expected to achieve commercial operation in 2014.
