Indian steel producer Jindal South West Steel has signed a contract with Siemens for a new blast furnace and for the modernisation of an existing blast furnace at its iron and steel works located in Toranagallu, India.

The VAI Division of Siemens will design and supply equipment for the furnace, which will be India’s largest. The order is worth €28 million. The modernized blast furnace is scheduled for start-up in January 2007 and the new blast furnace in October 2008.
