Under the contracts, Siemens will be responsible for construction, installation and commissioning of 52 units of D3 direct drive wind turbines at the wind projects.
The projects include Raheenleagh wind farm located in County Wicklow, at 70km south of Dublin, and phase one of Galway Wind Park, which is near the city of Galway, both in Ireland as well as Aikengall 2 in south-east of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Featuring 11 SWT-3.2-108 turbines, the 35MW Raheenleagh wind farm is being developed by Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and Coillte.
The 64MW first phase of SSE’s 169MW Galway Wind Park will comprise 22 SWT-3.0-101 turbines, while Community Windpower’s 60.8MW Aikengall 2 project will feature 19 SWT-3.2-113 turbines.
Once operational, the projects are expected to generate electricity required to power almost 100,000 households.

The contracts also have provision for five years of service at Galway phase one, ten years for Raheenleagh, and 20 for Aikengall 2.
