Under the deal, Siemens will provide 17 SWT-3.0-101 type direct drive wind turbines for the Eurus Yurikogen project to be constructed on the North West Coast of the country.
In addition, the company will provide service and maintenance for five years for the project.
The turbines to be installed will have a 3MW capacity and a rotor diameter of 101m, noted Siemens.
The installation and commissioning of the project is slated to begin in January 2016.
Eurus Energy Holdings corporate communications and environmental management office general manager Mitsue Usami said the project is going to be third largest wind farm in Japan.
"With advanced wind turbine technology, we sincerely hope that the wind farm will contribute to the local community development together with the people in Akita," Usami added.
