Siemens Energy has secured a total of 11 European orders to deliver and install 151 onshore wind turbines, with combined generating capacity of about 360MW.

The company will deliver a total of 19 gearless wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3MW and a rotor diameter of 101m, for the 39MW Dagpazari project in Turkey and the 18MW Millour Hill project in the UK.

The wind turbines to be delivered under the 11 orders are expected to combinedly generate enough clean electricity for up to 230,000 European households.

Siemens said Europe is currently the largest wind power market in the world, with installed capacity of more than 87,000MW.

The Global Wind Energy Council expects that there will be as much as 459,000MW of wind energy installed globally by 2015.
