According to the company, the extension of the 220kV Rabai and Embakasi substations is an essential part of the Mombasa-Nairobi transmission line project.
Siemens’ scope of supply includes the installation of an 8km, 220kV cable on a turnkey basis.
The transmission line will transfer electricity from thermal power stations in the coastal area to Nairobi.
Siemens said that the power line is of critical importance because it will improve the power system stability, reduce technical losses and play a major role in regional power trade.
