The test centre will begin operation in 2014 on a 36,000 square meter site recently purchased by Siemens Real Estate in Ludwigsfelde.
According to the company, the new test centre will have three cells for investigating combustion processes under real-life service conditions.
Siemens Energy Sector fossil power generation division CEO Roland Fischer said the company will now be able to study and validate the combustion processes in gas turbines in its own test centre.
Up to now, Siemens has relied on external test facilities in evolving its gas turbine burners, the company said.
