A consortium of Siemens and Marubeni Corp are to build a new turnkey 700 MW combined cycle power plant in the Songkhla Province of Thailand.

The contract, awarded by EGAT, will see Siemens supply two SGT5-4000F gas turbines (formerly V94.3A), a steam turbine and three generators as well as the instrumentation & control system and auxiliaries. Marubeni will be responsible for procuring the heat recovery steam generators, the civil works and the balance of plant.

The Songkhla Power Plant is located in Chana district, in Songkhla province in the South of Thailand and is scheduled to come on line in early 2008. The plant will be fired by natural gas supplied from off-shore gas fields developed jointly by Thailand and Malaysia.
