Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract for the supply of components and spare parts for three power plant blocks being built in Ashuganj in eastern Bangladesh.

Under the contract, the company will supply an SGT5-4000F gas turbine, an SST-3000 steam turbine, a SGen5-2000H generator, as well as operational spare parts for the Ashuganj North power plant block.

In addition, Siemens will provide installation support and is responsible for commissioning the main components delivered under the contract.

The contract represents third order within a year from Bangladesh, following the previous component orders for the 225MW Ashuganj and 400MW Ashuganj South projects.

Siemens Energy Gas Turbines and Generators Business Unit CEO Thierry Toupin said, "This reflects the great deal of trust our customers have in Siemens and in the reliability of our products."

The Ashuganj North power plant is being built by a consortium of two Spanish companies, UTE TSK and Tecnicas Reunidas, for the Ashuganj Power Station Company.

Commissioning of the 400MW combined cycle power plant is scheduled for mid-2016.
