Siemens and Eos Energy Storage have partnered to offer energy storage solutions for a range of grid-connected and off-grid markets.

Eos is offering Aurora 1000|400, which is a 1MW/4MWh DC battery system, priced at $160 per usable kWh for the full DC system. It is claimed that the battery gives out guaranteed performance for up to 20 years of continuous services with minimum maintenance.

The company offers its Zynth technology in modular, pre-integrated, outdoor-rated enclosure and goes by the name, Energy Stack.

The new product can be easily maintained and has lower cost throughout the project development cycle.

Eos claims that the newly developed energy storage system offers economic alternatives to conventional system upgrades, renewable energy developers a chance of disposable hybrid power and load management savings paired with enhanced power quality and reliability for commercial customers.

With the partnership, both the companies are poised to offer energy storage solutions for a broad range of grid-connected and off-grid markets.

Under the partnership, the two companies would test and conduct product validation that can pave the way for MW-scale installations in the first half of 2017.

The installations will include  California Energy Commission funded project with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), demonstration of a behind-the-meter, commercial and industrial product at the University of California at San Diego, and a first-ever utility microgrid installation combining the Eos Aurora with on-site solar and diesel generation.

Eos CEO Michael Oster said: “Working with such an established energy industry leader like Siemens is an exciting step for us and the energy storage industry.

“By combining Eos’ cost and performance advantage with Siemens’ capabilities in system integration and project execution, we are able to offer solutions that reduce risk and complexity for the customer while setting a new benchmark for energy storage reliability and cost-effectiveness.”

Siemens VP Brian Dula said: “Our goal is to standardize and productize energy storage projects with focus on reliability and return on investment for the customer.

“This process starts with modeling and analytics to optimally size the energy storage asset and carries all the way through project implementation and performance guarantees.

“By offering a solution with supporting services, Siemens will help customers realize the full benefits of the Eos Aurora battery.”
