The blades of each SWT-6.0-154 turbine spans 75m capable of producing 25 million KWh of clean electricity.

Employing the company’s direct drive technology the SWT-6.0 is also the lightest turbine in its class.

Siemens Energy wind power division CTO Henrik Stiesdal remarked that they incorporated their technological expertise gained over three decades into the development of the gearless turbine and its 75-meter rotor blade.

"The new 6-megawatt turbine is a milestone in wind energy technology," added Stiesdal.

Siemens is also partnering with Danish group, DONG Energy to install 300 such offshore wind turbines for projects off the coast of the UK.
