The three combustion turbines will add 27 MW of power to the Jameson Energy Center at Garden city, Kansas.
Sega will be responsible for installation and construction of the plant, which is expected to be active in early 2014.
Siemens Energy CEO of the business unit industrial power Hans Holmstroem said the turbine benefits from a simple cycle efficiency of up to 35% as well as a high availability ensuring security of supply.
"The SGT-400 gas turbine is a blend of 25 years’ experience and the latest combustion technologies," Holmstroem added.
KMEA general manager Bob Poehling said the turbines and generators are configured on trailers that can be quickly transported to and installed at the site.
"The plant needs to come on-line quickly in order to support peak power needs in the area," Poehling said.
