To be headquartered in Munich, Germany, the JV will begin operations pending regulatory approval and other closing conditions and hire around 100 employees in its first year. It will initially focus on Europe and the US and plan to expand across the globe in the future.

Omnetric Group will integrate Siemens products and solutions and Accenture’s expertise in consulting, system integration and operating solutions to provide smart grid solutions to utilities such as integrating operational technologies including real-time grid management, with information technologies like smart metering.

Siemens Smart Grid Division CEO Jan Mrosik said that the companies established the JV, integrating the experience of both Siemens and Accenture, to cater the needs of smart grid.

"Utilities can improve overall grid reliability and bridge the gap to real-time grid control through integration and implementation of new and previously isolated grid applications.

"We believe this integration could not be done better than by a company that combines Siemens’ industry know-how and Accenture’s complementary IT experience," Mrosik added.

Omnetric Group will begin operations pending regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
