The gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant will be equal in size to the company’s Pearl plant in Qatar, the Wall Street Journal said.
The company is looking to complete construction and engineering plans in about two years.
Shell Initially opted to build the plant in Texas, but considered Louisiana as the state offered better incentives.
The company has established the first GTL plant in Qatar as the country has an abundance of low-cost natural gas.
