A technical advisory board, a team of experts from major research universities and agencies, has tested and validated the new technology and the single Invelox power have the capacity to power nearly 25,000 US homes.
Prototypes of the new towers, which have minimal environmental impact than turbine-topped towers, were tested under controlled laboratory conditions. These test results were used to develop and validate full-scale computational fluid dynamic models.
The new tower can generate power at a fraction of the size and cost of traditional wind turbines and hence requires no subsidies.
SheerWind executive vice president and chief administrative officer Cyndi Lesher said that the company’s innovation has exceeded current industry standards and will make wind power cost competitive with fossil fuels.
"This is just the beginning. Invelox — and the even larger-capacity systems we plan to create — will change the course of wind power generation," added Lesher.
