The Shaw Group has received approval to proceed on a 550MW new dual fuel combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant at Entergy’s Ninemile Point Steam Electric Station near New Orleans, US.
The unit is scheduled to begin commercial operation in the first half of 2015.
Entergy awarded Shaw an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services contract worth $500m for the construction of the new unit in last June, for which Shaw commenced work under a limited notice to proceed.
The notice to proceed fully authorizes Shaw to begin EPC services for the plant.
Shaw is currently providing extended power uprate plant modifications at Entergy’s Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
