The Greater Vancouver regional district plans a four-year, US$32.4M project to earthquake-proof the Seymour Falls dam in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The reservoir behind the dam supplies 40% of the regional water supply. The dam, built in 1962, will be strengthened by excavating the ground immediately downstream and replacing it with densified soil. No extra water capacity will be gained in the project.

Work on the project should begin in early 2004.
