The first two blasts occurred at the Vorkutaugol-owned coal mine at a depth of 748m which claimed the lives of four miners while it left 26 others trapped. Vorkutaugol is an integral part of Russian steel and mining company Severstal.
Six additional people including five rescuers and one miner were killed following another explosion at the mine.
The third explosion occurred when the rescuers were digging through the rubble to install insulated blocks with a gas to put down the fire in the mine.
Severnaya coal technical director Denis Paikin was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as saying: "The technical council has studied the situation in detail, including the level of gas at the mine, the dynamics of the raging fire, and the destruction which followed three explosions that happened at the mine.
"Having evaluated the current situation the council has decided there are no people left alive at the mine."
About 110 miners were working underground at the time of the initial blast following which the company safely evacuated 80 people.
Xinhua cited Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov as saying that the ministry has ordered experts and technicians to prepare a new report assessing the situation of the coal mine following the third blast.
Severstal CEO Vadim Larin said: "On behalf of everyone at Severstal, I would like to express my deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic incident, particularly the friends and families of our valued colleagues who lost their lives."
