Through this renewed partnership, the company will offer its smart grid technologies, including the FlexNet advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system, smart meters, automation control and demand response solutions to NRTC rural electric co-op members across the US.
As part of the new agreement, NRTC plans to install more than one million Sensus meters at an additional 100 cooperatives nationwide.
NRTC utility solutions vice president Ed Drew said the smart grid solutions improve customer service, and eanble them to take a more active role in energy conservation and protect vital capital and infrastructure investments for utilities.
"As interest in and adoption of the smart grid continues to grow among our members, we can count on Sensus to provide these solutions," Drew added.
Sensus marketing vice president Greg Myers said, "This partnership further solidifies Sensus’ commitment to serving the rural utility co-op market by providing real cost and energy savings to both the utilities and their customers."
Approximately 600,000 Sensus meters have been installed by NRTC members at 40 different rural electric cooperatives, since 2011.
