Sembcorp Marine’s subsidiary Sembcorp Marine Specialised Shipbuilding will be responsible for the construction of the carriers. SeaOne, a Houston, Texas-based company’s Caribbean Fuels Supply project will use the CGL carriers.
Based on the requirements of SeaOne’s single gas and liquids cargo delivery, Sembcorp Marine claims to offer a unique design for the neo-panamax CGL carriers . Presently, the front-end engineering design (FEED) studies for the project are in progress.
The design will feature proprietary ship component ideas from LMG Marin, which is naval architect and ship design house in Europea and a Sembcorp Marine subsidiary.
The carriers, as per Sembcorp Marine, will be 366m long and will have 2 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of capacity. These carriers will be equipped with SeaOne’s patented CGL technology and systems.
They will be used for transporting CGL cargos to receiving terminals across the Caribbean, Central and South American regions from a CGL production facility being constructed at the Port of Gulfport in Mississippi, USA.
The CGL carriers will be powered by IMO Tier III diesel engines with a maximum sailing speed of 20 knots.

Sembcorp says that the signing of this letter of intent to build CGL carriers is a major milestone in the continued development and implementation of SeaOne’s extensive Caribbean Fuels Supply Project.
