The expansion, which is funded by internal sources, increases the output of the plant from 20 tonnes per hour capacity to 20 tonnes per hour of steam.
Together, the expanded plant will use around 400 tonnes per day of woodchip processed from waste collected by the company’s solid waste management operations, curbing carbon dioxide emissions by about 70,000 tonnes a year.
The expansion, which is in line with the company’s efforts to provide its customers energy solutions, comes on the heels of the company’s investment plans of €146.5m to build, own and operate an energy-from-waste plant capable of generating 140 tonnes per hour of process steam.
