ScottishPower Renewables has announced that it has officially opened its newest wind farm in Wether Hill, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The facility is ScottishPower's eighth operational wind farm in Scotland.

The 14-turbine installation will deliver an output of 18MW, or enough green renewable energy for over 10,000 households. This, in turn, will displace more than 40,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year, which is the equivalent of taking 13,500 cars off the road, the utility said.

Keith Anderson, director of ScottishPower Renewables, said: Wether Hill is an important element of our wind development program, and is a fantastic example of utilizing Scotland’s abundant wind resources for environmental benefit.
