The company has sold its 30MW Dalswinton and 36.8MW Minsca wind farms in Scotland, and the 30MW Slieve Divena wind farm in northern Ireland.
The electricity generated by the Dalswinton and Minsca wind farms is being sold to a third party, while power from the Slieve Divena wind farm will be sold to SSE via a new power purchase agreement.
SSE also sold its interest in the Ardrossan wind farm in Scotland to Infinis in May 2010.
SSE finance director Gregor Alexander said that while the company is planning long-term growth of its wind energy portfolio throughout the UK and Ireland, it will use disposals and acquisitions to optimize its wind farm portfolio, and this sale is consistent with that.
