Schlumberger has partnered with Seitel to reimage and acquire new geophysical data in crucial areas across onshore Mexico.
As part of strategic multiclient alliance, the partnership will reimage around 25,000km² of 2D seismic data from Mexico’s National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) data library, which includes lease blocks in the current bid round two and future onshore lease round blocks..
Additionally, the new multiclient data acquisition projects are already under development.
The newly reprocessed seismic data and other new acquisition projects will offer subsurface images of proven oil and gas reservoirs in the Sabina-Burgos, Tampico-Misantla, Veracruz and Sureste areas, in addition to the under-explored Chihuahua province and other strategic areas.
The reimaging program will include both conventional and unconventional onshore lease blocks in the areas.
Schlumberger, WesternGeco president Maurice Nessim said: “The areas for reimaging were strategically selected to deliver regional analysis of the prospective plays across onshore Mexico with both organizations using high-end processing workflows.”
