Germany-based Elster has been selected by two SCANA Corp companies for the supply of all classes of Elster American Meter diaphragm meters to their service areas in 2011.

The two SCANA Corp firms include South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCEG) and Public Service of North Carolina (PSNC).

Elster American Meter diaphragm gas meters have measurement chambers formed by movable diaphragms.

With the gas flow directed by internal valves, the chambers alternately fill and expel gas, producing a nearly continuous gas flow through the meter.

PSNC Energy engineering and measurement services manager Todd Mingus said the company’s decision to select Elster American Meter is as a part of its overall gas measurement solution.

Elster is engaged in advanced metering infrastructure and integrated metering and utilization solutions to the gas, electricity and water industries.
