The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project involves construction of 3,200MW two reactor nuclear power station in Somerset, England.

The move comes as EDF is seeking additional investors to help fund the $25.06bn nuclear project.

In October, the project had secured European Commission’s state aid approval for the support of the UK government to guarantee returns in the future, reports Reuters.

Expected to supply approximately 7% of the UK’s electricity needs, the Hinkley Point C will employ 25,000 people during construction.

The project will avoid around 9 million tons of CO2 emissions annually and will employ around 900 people during its 60 years of operation.

EDF will own 45-50% stake in the project while China General Nuclear Corporation (CGN) and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) consortium will share 30-40% equity in the project.

Additionally, French nuclear reactor maker Areva will hold 10% and the remaining 15% will be by another investor.
