Bloomberg News cited Solidarity spokesman Marius Croucamp as saying that Sasol is reducing their costs.
The consulting, which begun in late November, follows a downsizing plan carried out by the company and Bain & Co, Croucamp added.
Sasol spokesman Alex Anderson said that the progress made in operating model design, the company considers possible job impacts due to the new program.
"We anticipate that for at least the next six months the impacts will be limited to the senior management structures in the organization."
Within the next two to three years, the company is planning to save 279m from cost cuts, Sasol said earlier.
The Project Phoenix, initiated by Sasol and Bain, would result in about 1,000 job cuts, Croucamp continued.
