The company is considering whether to take part in expansion of the nuclear power plant near Bay City. Already, CPS Energy has a 40% ownership stake in Units 1 and 2 of the South Texas Project. NRG Energy Inc., another equity partner in the South Texas Project, has planned to invest in two additional units, essentially doubling capacity at the plant.
CPS Energy’s board of trustees will have to make a decision whether to take part in the expansion in order to receive extra power from the plant.
