Spanish construction company Sacyr Vallehermoso has won a €59m contract to develop two hydropower projects in Peru.

The EPC contract placed by Generación Andina comprises construction, equipment supply, electromechanical assembly and commissioning of the 8.6MW El Carmen plant, 19.8MW 8 de Agosto hydroelectric plant.

In addition to the two projects, the contract also includes the construction of a transmission line to Tingo María.

The contract is in line with company’s plans to extend its presence in South American market.

El Carmen project located in Huánuco, north-west of Lima is estimated to have annual production capacity of 141GWh, while 8 de Agosto plant in Humalíes province is expected to produce 52.3GWh per annum.
