Under the industriepartnerschaft.de project, RWE will be offering its industrial customers a virtual share in parts of these new power plants on a long-term partnership basis. The company will be offering customers power plant capacities of up to 1,000MW gross for the period 2009 to 2037.
By participating in the industrial partnership project, industrial customers will acquire the right to purchase a defined quantity of electricity over a period of 29 years, the cost structure being the same as if these customers had a hard coal-fired power plant of their own. This enables them to reduce the risks of procuring electricity in the volatile power market.
RWE will assume the technical risks involved in power plant construction, operation or availability and will take over central tasks such as the functions of builder/owner and operator. The company will also ensure reliable supplies.
