The plant, which started its commercial operation in September 2010, will be taken off the grid from 1 May to 31 August 2014, and will not be available for the electricity market.

The steam parts of the two older gas-fired power plants at the Lingen site, Emsland B and C, with a capacity of 360MWeach, will remain out of operation from 1 April to 30 September.

Approximately € 500m have been invested by the company in the CCGT plant, which has a capacity of 876MW, and an efficiency of almost 60%.

The plant requires considerably less fuel than older stations of equivalent size, thereby helping to protect fuel resources and reduce CO2 emissions.
