The German utility RWE has said it will not give up attempts to obtain a licence for the Mülheim-Kärlich nuclear power plant in spite of a decision by the Federal Administrative Court which found against a licence that has already been issued.

The company has said it is still hopeful that, by avoiding the previous mistakes, it can obtain a new first-construction licence for the plant. If the state of Rhineland-Palatinate will not issue a revised licence, it might be liable to pay compensation to RWE.
