Completed in just 14 months, the project, which features 22 REpower wind turbines of 2.05MW each, will supply power to more than 50,000 Polish households annually.

The company has built the around €60m project in two phases with phase one comprising nine wind turbines totaling 39MW that was operational in April 2013, while the company has installed three turbines of 6MW each in the second phase, which became online in August 2013.

The company is planning to further expand the Nowy Staw wind farm. The company currently operates six onshore wind farms in Poland including Nowy Staw.

RWE Innogy COO Paul Coffey said that the company’s total onshore wind capacity now total around 1,800 MW including 200MW from Poland.

"We intend to continue this success story and await the new law for the expansion of renewables in Poland. Secure framework conditions are vital to further investment," Coffey added.
