The company will become operator of a new production licence, PL694, with a 40% share – thus increasing its total number of operatorships to seven on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The new PL is located in the northern part of the Norwegian Sea, where RWE Dea Norge has operating licences PL330, PL653 and PL654.

In the same area, the company has been awarded a 20% share in PL682, which is situated in an area where the firm has operatorship of PL420 with the Titan discovery.

The latest award from the ministry is expected to support RWE Dea Norge in its long-term strategy to build a portfolio in Norwegian Sea.

RWE Dea Norge managing director Hans-Joachim Polk said the company interprets the APA 2012 awards as a vote of confidence from the authorities.

"With these new licences we will strengthen our position in two of our core areas, whilst also consolidating and further developing our standing as a long term player in Norway," Polk added.
