All three units of the 15,000kW Gunib hydroelectric plant, in Dagestan, Russia, have been fully commissioned at a total cost of US$15M.

The project, designed by the Lengidroproyect research institute, is based on the river Kara Koisu, North Caucasus and is set to produce 57.6MkW/hr per year, even before its 73m high dam is ready.

The Kara Koisu river already features one power plant, the 65 year old Gergebil project, the first hydro plant in Dagestan.
