The government of Tanzania has signed a memorandum of understanding with JSC Zarubezhstroy – part of Russia’s Borodino Group – for the development of the 222MW Rumakali hydroelectric project, set to be the largest hydro development in the East African country so far.

The project is to be built over a three to five year period by Borodino and its subsidiaries Stroyecologia, Baltic-CGEM-Komplekt and ACC Engineering. New Russian technologies and construction practices are to be implemented on the project.

More than 75% of the project’s preparatory phase is already complete.
