Russia has expressed its readiness to co-operate with the Association of South East Asian Nations on an international atomic energy partnership model, the Vietnam News Agency reported, quoting a report by Voice of Russia.

In a meeting held by the fuel and natural resources ministers of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Singapore, the group stressed the importance of nuclear energy. The group maintained that atomic energy is a reliable alternative to oil, gas and coal for ensuring the region’s security.

Russia also has plans of building oil pipelines and developing energy infrastructure in the ASEAN region, the report said.
