Pakistan, in turn, will award the pipeline construction contract to a Russian company, without calling for any bids.
The Express Tribune cited Pakistan Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as saying: "Pakistan and Russia have finalized an LNG pipeline deal in a recent meeting in Moscow and the two countries will sign a government-to-government basis deal next month.
"Russia will start its first LNG exports in 2016 and has also offered to sell gas to Pakistan," Abbasi said.
The investment is part of Russia’s efforts to diversify its export markets following a dispute with European Union, its main buyer, over Ukraine, last year.
Currently, Pakistan is constructing two re-gassified LNG pipelines from Karachi to the northern parts of the country.
