The plant is owned by Rurelec’s 93% indirect subsidiary Empresa de Generacion Electrica Canchayllo.
Located in Junin Province, Canchayllo is one of six small hydro developments undertaken by Rurelec.
The company is also developing three additional small hydro projects (6MW to 18MW each) in the same Junin region.
Rurelec, which is incorporated in England & Wales, was established to develop, own and operate power generation capacity globally.
In September 2013, Rurelec acquired Cascade Hydro, a UK holding company with a portfolio of more than 300MW of hydro-electric projects under development in Peru.

It sells wholesale electricity as a generator on commercial terms, via capacity payments or power purchase agreements.
The company’s current businesses include an operational plant in Argentina, development of new plants in Chile, as well as sponsorship of new generation capacity in Bangladesh.
