UK-based power systems and services provider Rolls-Royce has secured a contract to supply equipments and services to power the flow of gas through a section of the 1,830km long Turkmenistan-China pipeline.
The $40m order was placed by Asia Trans Gas, a joint venture between Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz and China’s National Petroleum.
Under the contract, Rolls-Royce will provide three RB211 gas turbine driven pipeline compressor units for operation at a compressor station on the Uzbekistan section of the natural gas pipeline.
The Uzbekistan section of the Turkmenistan-China natural gas pipeline is 530km long and will transport 25 billion cubic meters per year of gas from Turkmenistan, through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, to China.
Asia Trans Gas general director Li Lin said that the company is expected on-time delivery of equipments.
"We need reliable and efficient technology to transport the gas on this important project for Uzbekistan and China. Rolls-Royce technology is an excellent fit," Lin added.
Rolls-Royce will manufacture and package the equipment at its energy facilities in Montreal, Canada and Mount Vernon, IN Ohio, US.
