Among the four, two stones weighing 116 carats and 138 carats were recovered at the Saxendrift processing plant from Saxendrift Extension pit, while a 126-carat stone and a 169-carat stone were recovered from a mining area recently opened up at the Saxendrift Hill Complex.
The company has also dug out more than average number of diamonds weighing less than 100 carats and expects the move to support its decision to focus operations in the region and implement new processing technology.
Rockwell Diamonds CEO and president James Campbell said that recovery of four rough diamonds exceeding 100 carats within a three week period supports the company’s objective to grow production in the MOR region.
"It also attests to the quality of our recovery processes where the implementation of fit-for-purpose technology has improved our ability to recover large stones," Campbell said.
