Rocksource Norway has received a drilling permit from the Norwegian Petroleum of Directorate for the 26/5-1 well in the Norwegian Sea.

The company will drill 26/5-1 well in production license PL506 S, which is located in the Stord Basin in the North Sea.

The drilling program of the well will include spudding a wildcat well in the production license PL506 S.

26/5-1 well is the first well that will be drilled in the license area, which consists of blocks 26/5 and 26/8 in the central North Sea.

The company will spud the well using the Borgland Dolphin drilling facility, after the completion of drilling for Statoil on the Oseberg field.

Rocksource Norway is the operator with an ownership interest of 25% in the license, whereas other licensees are Petrolia Norway, Valiant Petroleum and Petoro with 30%, 25% and 20% interest, respectively.
