The new groups include aluminum, copper and coal, diamonds and minerals, and iron ore.

Rio Tinto’s coal operations and the existing copper portfolio will be copper and coal product group and will be led by Copper CEO Jean-Sébastien Jacques.

The diamonds and minerals product group, which will include uranium, will operate under the supervision of CEO Alan Davies.

Other key corporate functions will also be restructured to reduce costs and improve effectiveness.
