Located in Georgina, Ontario, the GoldLight Solar construction is scheduled to commence in summer 2014 and will employ approximately 200 workers on site at the peak of construction activity.
The facility, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of the 2014, will provide electricity to the Ontario Power Authority under a 20-year feed-in-tariff (FIT) contract.
RES Canada development vice president Peter Clibbon said: "RES Canada is pleased to be constructing its fourth project for Canadian Solar and expanding our FIT construction portfolio.
"Ontario’s investment in the FIT program shows the province’s continued commitment to renewable energy that is guided by the principles in their Long Term Energy Plan: cost-effectiveness, reliability, clean energy, community engagement, and conservation and demand management."
The GoldLight Solar facility will take RES Canada’s Ontario solar FIT construction portfolio to 80MW.
