The project which is currently under construction comprises of 83 units of V90-1.8MW Vestas turbines.
Upon completion, Halkirk will have the potential to generate enough electricity power to about 50,000 average Alberta homes.
Capital Power, a subsidiary of Capital Power Corporation has selected RES Canada to be the BOP construction contractor.
Capital Power senior vice president Darcy Trufyn said the project is the company’s first major wind project in Alberta and is aligned with disciplined growth strategy.
"The expected completion date is the fourth quarter of 2012, and the project is one of four wind power facilities that we currently have under construction or in development in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta," added Trufyn.
