Under the contract, REpower will deliver, install and maintain 15 REpower MM92 type turbines for 10MW Whispering Woods and 20MW Ganaraska wind farms in Oshawa.
The two wind facilities are expected to supply electricity to approximately 60,000 homes on an annual basis.
Both the wind parks projects have won a feed-in tariff power purchase contract by the Ontario Power Authority and environmental studies are currently being completed for each project.
The feed-in tariff program was enabled by the Green Energy and Green Economy Act which passed into law in May of 2009 and guarantees a certain pricing structure for green energy supply.
A Suzlon group company REpower manufactures onshore and offshore wind turbines.
