The REpower MM92 turbines, each with a rated power of 2.05MW will be supplied to six projects in Whittington, Springwood, White Pines, Napier, Sumac Ridge and Fairview , that are expected to be constructed and commissioned in 2014.
Commenting on the agreement wpd Canada managing director Ian McRae said that the contract will enable the supply of wind turbines and availability of sophisticated service when required.
"The local economy not only profits from clean and affordable energy but is also provided with new infrastructure in conjunction with the installation of the wind farms," added McRae.
Repower is also planning to setup a new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Southern Ontario in to better serve its growing business presence in Canada and meet the 50% domestic content requirement of the Canadian Green Energy Act.
REpower Systems managing director Helmut Herold said, "The project management and setup of a rotor blade factory involves the creation of several hundred medium to longterm jobs."
